Method and reading guide¶
How the cards are made¶
The cards are made with Claude (Claude Code) from the full text of the sources, following fixed rules (CLAUDE.md in the repository).
They are an aid for reading and getting an overview, not a substitute for reading the sources.
Two languages¶
Each card exists in Norwegian and English. The English version is written directly from the source text, not translated from the Norwegian card. Quotes are always in the source's original language. Where the two versions differ in substance, check the source.
Markers¶
| Marker | Meaning |
|---|---|
| [U] | Stated in the source (uttalt). Should be found on the page given. |
| [T] | Interpretation or inference made by Claude (tolkning). Judge for yourself. |
(p. 12) |
Printed page number, unless the card says sidetype: pdf. |
Status¶
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| utkast | Generated, not checked by a person. |
| til-gjennomgang | Ready for Rebekka. |
| godkjent | Rebekka has checked the card against the original. |
Automatic checks¶
A script checks that all quotes appear verbatim in the source text, that they have page numbers and that all links point to known sources. It does not check whether the interpretations are good. That is Rebekka's job.
Gap types in the gap matrix¶
- (a) Explicitly acknowledged in a source.
- (b) Inferred by comparing sources – must be checked.
- (c) Idea not supported by the 34 sources – must be checked against other literature.
That something is missing from these sources does not mean it is missing from the research.
AI use in the thesis¶
Follow UiO's guidelines, and describe the use of the tool in the methods chapter.
